Wine Labels

Wine bottle labels are paper or synthetic labels that are affixed to wine bottles to provide information about the wine inside. The label typically includes the name of the wine, the vintage, the region or country of origin, the producer, and other details such as the alcohol content, grape variety, and tasting notes.

Wine bottle labels can also include government-mandated information, such as a warning about the health hazards of consuming alcohol, the producer’s registration number, and the legal designation of the wine (e.g., “PDO” or “PGI” in the European Union).

Where can you put a Wine Label on a bottle?

Front Label – The front label is the most important part of the wine label, as it typically includes the name of the wine, the vintage, and the producer. This label is usually placed on the front of the bottle, in the center, or slightly off-center.

Back Label –  The back label is an additional label that provides more information about the wine, such as tasting notes, food pairing suggestions, and winemaker’s notes. This label is usually placed on the back of the bottle.

Neck Label – The neck label is a smaller label that is placed around the neck of the bottle. This label can include the producer’s logo or additional information about the wine.

Foil Cap –  Some wine bottles have a foil cap that covers the cork. This cap can be printed with the producer’s name or logo.

Lateral Label – The lateral label is a label that is wrapped around the side of the bottle, parallel to the front label. This label can include additional marketing information or a unique design element.

Labelling Materials for Wine Bottles

Waterproof Plastic Labels

Waterproof labels are a good choice for wine bottles because they are resistant to moisture, which is important for wines that are often stored in cool, damp environments. Waterproof labels are also durable, tear-resistant, and can withstand exposure to water, ensuring that the label remains legible and intact throughout the life of the wine bottle. Additionally, waterproof labels can be printed with a range of designs and information, making them an ideal choice for branding and marketing purposes

For extra water resistance, we recommend a gloss laminate over the top to ensure that the print is as protected as the label.

Semi-Gloss Paper Labels

Semi-gloss labels provide a balance between cost-effectiveness and professional appearance, making them a popular choice for wine bottles. However, it’s important to note that semi-gloss labels are not waterproof and may not be suitable for wines that will be exposed to significant moisture or water. In such cases, waterproof labels made from our polypropylene material may be better suited.

A gloss varnish and gloss laminate are excellent options for wine labels due to their ability to provide an extra layer of protection and enhance the label’s visual appeal. The gloss varnish provides a high level of glossiness, creating a luxurious and shiny finish that adds to the product’s premium look. Similarly, a gloss laminate provides a high level of glossiness, but it is thicker and more durable than a gloss varnish, making it a suitable option for products that require more protection.

Metallic Plastic Labels

Metallic plastic labels provide a luxurious and eye-catching look that can help brands differentiate themselves in a crowded market. They are also durable and can withstand exposure to moisture, making them an excellent choice for labeling wine bottles. We offer gold, silver, copper, and more from our range, just let us know what metallic colour you require.

Alternatively, if waterproof durability isn’t an essential part of your product. We also supply metallic paper labels which may be a suitable preference for your needs.
