Our studio staff will now work to get your artwork ready for print. They will check the quality of your artwork and will report back at this stage if there are any issues. If there are, we will come back to you and ask for amendments. If everything looks good, we will produce a PDF proof which will be sent via email for your approval. As well as sending you an image showing what will be printed, they will also be guides that refer to colours, the winding (the direction the label comes off the roll), and other relevant information.
You will need to reply to this email, either to give us your persimmon to proceed or advise us of anything that is not right. Approval of the PDF is the last chance to change anything as once given, your job will be queued for print. We will usually have a PDF proof with you for approval within 24 hours of receiving your order.
Some people like to see physical proof of their job before proceeding. This is called a wet proof and can be arranged at a one-off cost of £50.00 + VAT.
Once your artwork is approved, we will be ready to print your labels on our magnificent HP Indigo WS6900 presses. We print onto wide 330mm rolls and depending on the size of your labels, we can print in multiple lanes to ensure we are as economical as possible with our material.
Once your labels are printed, they will then be sent to the finishing department.
For more unique printing services, please take a look at our special process labels.
Some customers assume their labels are ready to be dispatched once printed. However, this is not the case! The finishing process is the most complex process and is where the following happens:
Your finish is applied: You can choose from finishes such as varnish or a laminate, gloss, or matt. The finish give it the perfect finishing touch giving it a great aestheic and pretoective layer. You can view the finish here.
Your labels are cut: We select a cutting tool for the size of labels you need and these are then kiss cut into the printed material.
Wound onto individual rolls: We slice the prints into individual labels and wind them onto cardboard cores to finally finish your products.
Once all the above steps are complete, the labels are moved to the packing stage.
Your labels are prepared for dispatch. The packing team will double-check all details of your order to ensure they correspond with what they are packing. Once this is verified, we take care to ensure our boxes are fully protected (we use eco-friendly box fillers) to ensure you’re your labels will arrive in excellent condition. These boxes are then placed in a cage, so they are ready for our couriers to collect.
We mainly use DPD when delivering your parcel, this may vary for outreach countries and islands. Most UK locations will be a 24-hour service. We will email you confirmation of dispatch alongside your tracking information so you can check the progress of your order down to a 1 hour time slot!
We aim to dispatch orders within 5 working days but do let us know if something is urgent as we will also do our best to meet a deadline.
The above outlines the process of ordering labels through Roll Labels from when a customer submits their order to it arriving on their doorstep.
